Computing
Here at Grove Park, we believe that technology plays a huge part in modern life and will only become more important as our children grow up. We understand that our children’s access to technology outside of school varies widely and we have made it our mission to provide an environment where every child has the chance to develop an understanding of how computers and technology work in the real world. We are very lucky to have a state-of-the-art computer suite with 32 desktop computers for children to access the curriculum, as well as iPads and Chromebooks in every classroom too.
Over the course of the week, every class will go to the Computing Room for their lessons with Mr Matthews. From Year 6 to Reception, all pupils will have the opportunity to learn and develop their skills in the vast world of computing through the Purple Mash scheme of work. We aim to broaden children’s perception of technology as a tool for learning, not just for entertainment at home. Our curriculum aims to use technology throughout all subjects and to allow every pupil a hands-on experience of a variety of hardware and software.
Using Purple Mash allows us to ensure the knowledge and skills taught build year on year to deepen and challenge our learners. We aim to provide a computing curriculum that the children enjoy and value. Children can access Purple Mash at home through this link: https://www.purplemash.com/sch/grove-me10#/
