Attendance and Punctuality

Important Update Regarding Details of Appeals September Start 2024.

If your child is due to start primary school in September 2024, you can appeal if you are refused a place at one of your preferred schools on National Offer Day (Tuesday, 16 April 2024). You need to submit your appeal before Tuesday 14 May 2024 for it to be considered by Tuesday 16th July 2024. Any appeals received after this time will be heard within 40 school-days from the deadline, or where reasonably possible, in line with updated guidance from the Department for Education.

For late applications, appeals should be heard within 40 school days from the deadline for lodging appeals where possible, or within 30 school days of the appeal being lodged where reasonably possible, in line with updated guidance from the Department for Education.

Attendance

The classroom doors open at 8.40am and close at 9.00am.  The end of the school day is at 3.20pm, with the exception of reception, you may collect your child from the reception class from 3.10pm.

Attendance and punctuality are vital to children’s ongoing education. Please ensure your child is in before that time so they can make a good start to their learning. Children should aim for 95% or greater attendance across the year. Whilst we understand that sometimes children are ill, it is important that they do not miss any more learning and experience than they must.

If your child is unwell or has an appointment please could you contact the school office on 01795 477417 to inform us of your child's absence, alternatively you may leave a message on our answer phone facility. You may also email us on  gpattendance@ba-mat.org.uk

Grove Park Primary School operates a 'first day calling' system for pupils who are not in school. Miss Savage and Mrs Bond, our attendance administrators , will contact you during the morning, if no notification has been received by the school office and record a pupil's absence accordingly.

If your child will not be attending due to a family/personal reason please write to Miss Savage and Mrs Bond  with the details for the absence, again this can be via email.

If you have any further questions regarding absence please do not hesitate to contact the school office with any questions you may have.
