Fifty Years of Grove Park
Grove Park Primary School opened in September 1974 and is still going strong today! Since it first opened, the school has seen many staff members come and go, has had some major structural changes, but most importantly, has continued to provide a safe and supportive learning environment for thousands of children for over fifty years.
We celebrated this milestone at Grove Park by hosting a tour for past students and staff that had once attended our school. Our brave Year 6 volunteers led groups around the school grounds showing visitors all that had changed and even learnt a little of our history from our guests along the way. We also celebrated some of our former students that are now staff members at Grove Park. It makes us proud to know that they enjoyed their time so much here, that they would want to come back as adults!
In addition to this, Julie Beards, both a former student and staff member, created a special memorial photo album depicting Grove Park's history over the past fifty years. She reached out to many people far and wide, collecting photos and stories together to create this wonderful celebration of Grove Park through the years. We are very thankful for her effort and dedication to putting this book together.
All students and staff received a commemorative pin badge and coin to mark this monumental occasion, and moving forwards, we are aiming to bury a time capsule and planting some trees.
